Key facts
- Reload bonuses we found on casinos' own pages are mostly 50% matches: HellSpin 50% up to AU$600, National Casino 50% up to 250 AUD, Bizzo 50% up to 300 AUD, all at 40x.
- In our calculation at 96% RTP, a bonus wagered only on itself breaks even at 25x; a 50% match wagered on deposit plus bonus breaks even at about 8x.
- A $200 reload at 40x needs $8,000 in bets, which costs about $320 on average if you play it all: $120 more than the bonus.
- Caps shrink reloads further: Spin Samurai's Friday Bonus caps winnings at the equivalent of EUR 50, and Wanted Win caps reload winnings at 10 times the bonus.
- Taking a $200 reload every week for a year at 40x means about $416,000 in bets in our calculation.
What a reload bonus is
A reload bonus is a deposit match for existing players. You have already used the welcome offer; the casino now offers, say, 50% extra on Wednesday's deposit. The bonus is smaller than a welcome match, and it comes back every week, which is the point: it gives you a reason to deposit again.
Online casino games cannot legally be offered to people in Australia, so every casino reload is an offer from an offshore operator, and most of the brands below are on ACMA's blocked list.

Among our partners, Wanted Win's terms name reloads among the bonuses whose winnings are capped at 10 times the bonus amount. Wild Tokyo's and Mino Casino's general bonus terms say deposit bonuses do not stack and only one bonus can be active at a time.
The maths: when a reload is worth anything
On average, a bonus is worth the bonus minus the expected cost of the betting it demands. The expected cost is the wagering total times the house edge. At 96% RTP the edge is 4%.
Bonus-only wagering: value = bonus - (multiple x bonus x 4%)
Deposit plus bonus wagering: value = bonus - (multiple x (deposit + bonus) x 4%)
Set the value to zero and you get the break-even multiples, in our calculation:
| Wagering basis | Break-even multiple at 96% RTP |
|---|---|
| Bonus only | 25x |
| Deposit plus bonus, 100% match | 12.5x |
| Deposit plus bonus, 50% match | about 8.3x |
Every reload in the table above asks for 40x or more. On these numbers, none is worth anything on average if you play the full requirement.
Worked example: a 50% reload up to $200
You deposit $400 and get $200. These are our example numbers, not a specific offer.
| Wagering | Bets required | Expected cost at 96% RTP | Average value of the bonus |
|---|---|---|---|
| 20x the bonus | $4,000 | $160 | +$40 |
| 30x the bonus | $6,000 | $240 | -$40 |
| 40x the bonus | $8,000 | $320 | -$120 |
| 40x deposit plus bonus | $24,000 | $960 | -$760 |
At 40x on the bonus, the betting costs you about $120 more than the bonus gives, on average. Results vary: you can bust out early (which caps your loss at your balance) or hit a big win. But the average is the cost of the habit.
A Spin Samurai style Friday Bonus of 150 AUD at 45x needs $6,750 in bets, an expected cost of $270 in our calculation. With winnings capped at the equivalent of EUR 50, the most you can ever take from the bonus is small next to the betting it asks for.
What a weekly reload habit costs over a year
Take the $200 reload at 40x every week for a year. In our calculation that is 52 x $8,000 = $416,000 in bets, with an expected loss of about $16,640 at 96% RTP, against $10,400 of bonuses. The bonuses do not make the year cheaper; they make it bigger.
Pundit tip: if a weekday reload is the reason you deposit, that is the casino's plan working. Decide your weekly budget first, then ask whether the bonus fits inside it.
Reload versus cashback
Cashback refunds a share of what you deposited or lost, and Mino Casino's carries lighter wagering than the reloads above. Its Daily Cashback pays 5% of the day's deposits up to EUR 50 at 30x; its VIP version pays 7% up to EUR 100 at 20x. Our casino cashback guide compares the two in detail, and the no deposit bonus guide covers the free offers.
How to read a reload offer in two minutes
- Wagering multiple and basis. Bonus only, or deposit plus bonus?
- Time limit. Casinonic gives 3 days; at 50x that is a lot of betting per day.
- Cap on winnings. 10 times the bonus, a fixed amount, or none?
- Maximum bet. Usually AUD 8 or less while the bonus is active.
- Game weighting. Pokies usually count 100%; pick higher-RTP games to cut the cost, as our highest RTP pokies guide explains.
- Run the numbers in the wagering requirements calculator.

Reloads, inducements and the law
Licensed Australian wagering is moving the other way. Under the Interactive Gambling Amendment (Gambling Reform) Act 2026, from 1 January 2027 licensed wagering providers must not send direct marketing offering an inducement, or show inducement ads on social media, to designated customers, such as accounts open for 14 days or less and customers identified as at risk. The Act's definition of inducement includes credit, rebates, rewards and vouchers. Offshore casinos are outside that regime. If weekly offers are pulling you back, the tools in our gambling limits guide help you set a hard stop.

Frequently asked questions
What is a reload bonus?
A deposit bonus for players who already have an account, usually a percentage match on a later deposit, often tied to a weekday. HellSpin's Wednesday Reload, for example, is 50% up to AU$600 plus 100 free spins from a $30 deposit.
Is a reload bonus worth it?
Usually not at 40x or more. In our calculation at 96% RTP, a bonus wagered only on itself needs to be under 25x to be worth anything on average, and most reload offers we found ask for 40x to 50x.
How is a reload bonus different from a welcome bonus?
It is smaller and repeats. Welcome bonuses are one-off and often 100% matches; the reloads we found were mostly 50% matches offered weekly, with the same wagering and maximum bet rules.
Do reload bonuses have a maximum win?
Often. Wanted Win caps winnings from reloads at 10 times the bonus, Spin Samurai caps its Friday Bonus at the equivalent of EUR 50 in winnings, and HellSpin caps non-welcome deposit bonus winnings at 15,000 AUD.
Can I refuse a reload bonus?
Usually. Wild Tokyo's and Mino Casino's terms, for example, say players can refuse any bonus. Without a bonus your deposit carries no bonus wagering, maximum bet or excluded games list, though the casino's normal deposit rules still apply.
