Paysafecard casinos Australia: how the PIN works, the $5 monthly fee and the $200 cap

Paysafecard turns cash into a 16-digit PIN you can spend online. It is private and caps your spending, but it charges a monthly fee on idle balances and cannot receive casino winnings.

Key facts

  • Paysafecard is a prepaid voucher: you buy a 16-digit PIN with cash or card at a shop or online and enter it at the checkout.
  • Australian limits: up to 200 AUD per payment, a 5 AUD monthly service fee from the second month and a 7.50 AUD fee to refund a balance.
  • PINs are country-specific: a PIN bought in Australia can only be used in Australia.
  • In our calculation, a $50 PIN left unused for six months is worth $25.
  • None of our partners lists Paysafecard, and offshore casinos that do usually take it for deposits only, so winnings need another route.

How Paysafecard works

Paysafecard is a prepaid voucher. Its own description is "a prepaid voucher payment method that lets you pay online with cash": you buy a PIN, and at an online checkout you choose Paysafecard and type in the 16 digits printed on your voucher. No bank account, card or name goes to the site you pay.

Two rules shape everything else:

  • PINs are country-specific. Paysafecard says "you can only use them in the country where you bought them", so an Australian PIN is for Australian use.
  • The balance is spent, not borrowed. You can only pay what is on the PIN, which makes it a hard spending cap.

Where to buy a PIN in Australia

At the counter or online. Paysafecard's Australian page names retailers including 7-Eleven, Allphones, Bing Lee, BP, Caltex, Drakes Supermarkets, EzyMart, Harvey Norman, IGA, Myer, NightOwl, Puma Energy, SPAR, TeleChoice and WHSmith, with a store finder for the rest. At a shop you can pay with cash or a card. Online, you buy through the PIN shop inside a Paysafecard account, which means signing up first.

Paysafecard's April 2020 Australian terms list voucher values of $10, $20, $50 and $100, issued by paysafecard.com Schweiz GmbH under ASIC Class Order 05/736.

Paysafecard fees and limits in Australia

From Paysafecard's Australian fees and limits page (read 9 October 2026):

ItemAustralian figure
Maximum per payment (PIN or combined PINs)200 AUD
Monthly service fee on a PIN balance5 AUD, from the second month
Avoiding the monthly feeLoad the PIN into a Paysafecard account
Refund (payout) of a balance7.50 AUD fee, deducted from the amount paid out
Account: PIN value held at any timeUp to 1,000 AUD
Account: used PINs per yearUp to 6,000 AUD
Currency conversionA fee applies; amount shown in Paysafecard's currency calculator

Worked example: the cost of a forgotten PIN

The PIN never expires, but the fee keeps coming. In our calculation, a $50 PIN bought and left in a drawer loses $5 a month from the second month:

Months since purchaseFees takenBalance left
1$0$50
2$5$45
4$15$35
6$25$25
7$30$20

Getting a leftover balance back is no cheaper. Refunding $20 costs the 7.50 AUD fee, so you receive $12.50, and the 2020 terms say a refund needs identification showing your address and an Australian bank account. The practical rule: buy only what you will spend this month.

Paying a casino with Paysafecard

  1. Buy a PIN for no more than you have set aside, and never more than 200 AUD for a single payment.
  2. At the cashier, choose Paysafecard and enter the PIN. Up to the 200 AUD cap, you can combine PINs.
  3. Keep the receipt until you have spent the whole balance.
  4. Before you play, find out how the casino will pay you, because the voucher cannot receive winnings.

Paysafecard lists gambling and sports betting among the kinds of online stores that accept it. That says nothing about whether a particular gambling site is legal: online casino games and online pokies cannot be offered to people in Australia.

Withdrawals: the part the voucher cannot do

Paysafecard is a way in, not a way out. Offshore casinos that list it treat it as deposit only and pay winnings some other way:

  • SkyCrown's payments page lists Paysafecard among methods marked "Cash out unavailable".
  • Razed's help centre says fiat withdrawals go back to a card or by bank transfer when you deposited by card or Paysafecard; see our Razed casino review.
  • King Billy's FAQ lists Paysafecard among deposit methods, and says you can withdraw only by the same method you used to deposit, so ask support how a voucher deposit gets paid out before you use one.

All three are on ACMA's blocked list. Expect identity checks before the first payout whatever you deposited with, and read our casino scams guide for the warning signs of a site that never intends to pay.

Pundit tip: if you use vouchers to cap spending, decide your withdrawal method at the same time you buy the PIN. A win you cannot withdraw cleanly tends to get played back.

What we found at our partners

None of our partners lists Paysafecard. LuckyOnes, VegasNow and Lucky Dreams list CashToCode as their voucher option, from AUD 25 to 400 per deposit, and Wanted Win lists no voucher; the rest show methods only after login. Our CashtoCode casino guide covers that alternative.

Frequently asked questions

Do Australian online casinos accept Paysafecard?

Some offshore casinos list it, usually for deposits only, but none of our partners does on its public pages. Online casino games cannot legally be offered to people in Australia, so check the site's licence and its withdrawal methods before buying a PIN.

Where can I buy Paysafecard in Australia?

Paysafecard's Australian site lists retailers including 7-Eleven, BP, Caltex, IGA, Harvey Norman, Myer, NightOwl, SPAR and WHSmith, plus an online PIN shop inside a Paysafecard account. You can pay in cash or by card at the counter.

Can I withdraw casino winnings to Paysafecard?

Plan on no. Paysafecard is built for paying, and casinos that list it generally pay out by bank transfer, card, e-wallet or crypto instead. Getting money back off a PIN itself costs a 7.50 AUD refund fee.

Does Paysafecard expire?

The PIN does not expire, but Paysafecard deducts a monthly service fee from the balance. In Australia it is 5 AUD a month from the second month, unless you load the PIN into a Paysafecard account.

What are Paysafecard online pokies?

Usually offshore pokies sites that list Paysafecard at the cashier. Online pokies cannot legally be offered to people in Australia, so there is no Australian body to help if a deposit goes missing. Treat the PIN like cash.
