Good

  • Five instant deposit methods, from a $5 minimum

Watch out

  • $10 minimum withdrawal and a bet-it-once rule on deposits
  • No more BSB deposits since March 2025
  • Live chat is not 24/7

Key facts

  • Sportsbet Pty Ltd is on the Northern Territory's register of licensed wagering operators, and Flutter lists Sportsbet among its brands.
  • Bank withdrawals are batched several times a day, seven days a week, and usually arrive within a few hours if your bank takes fast payments.
  • Minimum deposit $5, minimum withdrawal $10. Each deposit must be bet through once before it can be withdrawn.
  • BSB and account number deposits stopped on 18 March 2025. PayID, debit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and BPAY remain.
  • ACMA found in 2023 that Sportsbet's Quick Codes facilitated online in-play betting; it took no further action after the practice changed.

Verdict

Sportsbet scores 7.8 out of 10 in our desk review, the highest of the bookmakers we have checked so far, mainly because its payout rules are specific: bank withdrawals go out in batches several times a day, seven days a week, and usually reach a fast-payment bank account within a few hours. The trade-offs are a $10 withdrawal floor, a rule that every deposit must be bet once, and live chat that closes at midnight.

We read Sportsbet's help centre, footer, the Northern Territory register and ACMA's records on 8 October 2026. We did not open an account.

Is Sportsbet legit?

Yes. Sportsbet Pty Ltd is listed on the Northern Territory register of licensed wagering operators, and the site footer reads "Licensed and regulated by the Northern Territory Racing and Wagering Commission." South Australian customers are also covered by that state's gambling codes of practice. Flutter, the international betting group behind brands such as Sky Bet and Sisal, lists Sportsbet among its brands and calls it the market leader in Australia.

Being licensed means the national rules apply: identity checks, deposit limits, monthly statements, BetStop, and no credit cards. For how Sportsbet compares with other licensed operators, see our betting sites Australia guide.

Sportsbet withdrawal times by method

MethodStated timeNotes
Bank transferWithin a few hoursFast-payment enabled accounts, including weekends and overnight
Sportsbet Cash CardInstantSpend or use at an ATM
PayPalUp to one business dayOnly to a PayPal you deposited from, same email as your account

The help centre also lists card as a withdrawal method while noting "You can't Withdraw to a Debit Card", so plan on bank transfer. The minimum withdrawal is $10 on every method, the money must go to an account in your name, and Sportsbet only pays Australian bank accounts. If a withdrawal bounces back, the help centre names three usual causes: an unverified account, a bank that does not take fast payments, or a wrong BSB.

The turnover rule is worth understanding before you deposit. Sportsbet does not charge deposit fees "on the understanding that deposits will be turned over at least once". Its own example: a $200 balance made of a $100 deposit and $100 of winnings has a withdrawable balance of $100 until the deposit is bet.

Deposits after the credit ban

The minimum deposit is $5 and you must be verified first. Instant methods are debit card, PayID, Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal; BPAY takes 1 to 3 days. Two changes have narrowed the list:

  1. Credit is out. Since 11 June 2024 no licensed bookmaker may accept credit cards, credit-linked wallets or crypto.
  2. BSB transfers are out. From 18 March 2025 Sportsbet stopped accepting deposits by BSB and account number. Money sent that way bounces back within up to 10 days.

Google Pay works only in the Android app, and a PayPal account must hold a debit card, not a bank account.

Login, verification and limits

Since September 2024 new customers must verify their identity before the account is created, using a driver's licence, passport, Medicare card or similar. Sportsbet also checks you have not self-excluded.

Deposit limits can be set for 1, 7, 14 or 28 days, from $5. Lowering a limit is immediate; raising or removing one waits 7 days, as the national framework requires. BetStop registration blocks every licensed bookmaker at once, and our self exclusion guide explains how it works.

App and bet features

The Sportsbet app was rated 4.6 from about 185,000 ratings on Apple's Australian App Store on 8 October 2026. Features worth knowing:

  • Cash out on sport since 2014, on AFL Same Game Multis since May 2022, and now on racing. It is offered at the traders' discretion and cannot be requested by phone.
  • Same Game Multi and Same Race Multi, with leg tracking. Our same game multi guide explains why those prices differ from a normal multi.
  • Blackbook alerts and fluctuation views on racecards.
  • Bet With Mates group accounts, where an admin sets top-ups and payouts.

Regulator record

In December 2023 ACMA found that Sportsbet, along with Entain's brands and bet365, breached interactive gambling rules by using Quick Codes that let customers build in-play bets online before phoning them through. ACMA took no further action because the operators changed the codes. ACMA also found Sportsbet did not breach the law with markets during the 2022 Brownlow count. Earlier, in February 2022, ACMA's spam investigations list records a $2,508,600 infringement notice and an enforceable undertaking for Sportsbet Pty Ltd over marketing emails and SMS sent without consent or without a working unsubscribe facility.

How we scored it

  • Payments 8.5: batched bank payouts every day, five instant deposit methods. Loses points for the $10 floor.
  • Terms 6.5: clear rules, but the bet-once rule traps unbet deposits.
  • Safety 8.0: NT licence and a large owner, minus the 2023 Quick Code finding and the 2022 spam penalty.
  • Responsible gambling 7.5: limits and statements as required, explained clearly.
  • Bet features 8.0: cash out across sport and racing, SGM, SRM.
  • Support 8.0: chat and two phone lines, but no overnight chat.
