Verdict

Unibet Australia scores 6.0 out of 10. Its PayID payouts are genuinely quick and fee-free, but two facts weigh heavily. Its terms allow a $100 charge on dormant accounts, taken in one yearly lump, which can empty a small forgotten balance in a single deduction. And it holds an unwanted first: in 2025 it paid ACMA's first financial penalty for breaking BetStop rules. We read Unibet's terms, about page and withdrawal help pages, the NT register and ACMA's release on 8 October 2026, without opening an account.

Unibet Australia withdrawal times

MethodProcessing timeMinimum to maximumFee
PayID / fast bank transferUsually within the hour, 24/7; large amounts up to 24 hours outside business hours$2 to $200,000None
Standard bank transfer1 to 3 working days$0 to $100,000None
PayPalUp to 12 hours$0, no maximumNone

Three conditions sit behind the fast option. You must have cleared any financial verification, usually card verification. Fast withdrawals are for Australian residents only. And a PayID withdrawal cannot be cancelled: if you type the wrong PayID and the money reaches someone else's account, Unibet says it will not accept responsibility, so copy the identifier from your banking app rather than typing it. PayPal only appears as an option after a successful PayPal deposit.

Clause 7.13 of the terms adds the usual Australian rule: deposits must be "turned over at least once or 'bet through'" before withdrawal, though Unibet may waive it.

The $100 dormant account fee

Clause 19.1 is the line to read before you leave a balance behind. An account becomes dormant after 12 months without a deposit or a bet, and "to keep it open you must pay a yearly fee of $100", deducted from your balance on or after 31 October each year.

Compare the published dormant fees we found, over the first year after each one starts:

BookmakerFee starts afterFeeFirst-year cost
Bet Right18 months$13.20 a month$158.40
NextBet (PlayUp)12 months$10 a month$120.00
Unibet12 months$100 a year$100.00
TAB13 months, plus notice and a month$5.50 a month$66.00
bet365365 days, plus notice$5 a month$60.00

Unibet is not the most expensive over a year, but it is the bluntest: a monthly fee nibbles, while a single $100 deduction can wipe out a $70 balance in one go. With 31 October 2026 just over three weeks after our check, anyone with an old Unibet balance should withdraw it or place a bet now. Our TAB review and bet365 Australia review cover their fees in more detail.

Who runs Unibet in Australia

The terms name Betchoice Corporation Pty Ltd, "trading as Unibet", licensed by the Northern Territory Wagering Commission to accept bets by phone and internet, with a registered office at Fannie Bay Racecourse in Darwin. The NT register lists BetChoice Corporation Pty Ltd trading as UNIBET. Unibet's about page says the business is part of FDJ United, and that Unibet began in 1997.

The ACMA penalty

In May 2025 ACMA announced that Unibet had paid $1,014,120 after an investigation found more than 100,000 contraventions of the BetStop rules:

  • 954 customers' accounts were not closed promptly after they registered with BetStop.
  • 45 of those accounts stayed open for 190 days or more, although the customers could not bet.
  • 45 people whose exclusion had ended were given wagering services through old accounts, and one placed more than 1,200 bets.

Unibet gave a 2-year court-enforceable undertaking and agreed to refund affected customers. The rule it broke is simple: when someone registers with BetStop, every licensed bookmaker must close their account, and an old account must not simply reopen when the exclusion ends. Our self exclusion guide explains your rights under BetStop.

Deposits and the app

Like every licensed bookmaker, Unibet cannot take credit cards, credit-funded wallets or crypto, under the ban that took effect on 11 June 2024. The app listing promises cash out, Same Game Multi, Same Race Multi and live streaming. On Apple's Australian App Store it was rated 2.8 from 498 ratings on 8 October 2026, the lowest of the bookmaker apps we checked.

Support and complaints

Customer service is 1300 246 673 and phone betting is 13 78 68 (13 PUNT); live chat and email are linked from the help centre. Complaints go first to [email protected]. If unresolved, you can lodge a dispute with the NT Wagering Commission within 60 days, except for categories it does not handle, such as compensation claims and account closures.

How we scored it

  • Payments 7.5: fast, free PayID payouts; bank transfers slower.
  • Terms 3.5: the $100 yearly dormant fee is a clear negative.
  • Safety 6.0: NT licence, a large European owner, and a record-setting BetStop penalty.
  • Responsible gambling 5.5: deposit limits exist; we could not check the tools in detail, and the BetStop record counts.
  • Bet features 7.0: the usual multis and cash out.
  • Support 6.5: phone, chat, email and a published dispute route.
