Fair Go Casino review: one of ACMA's first two blocks, and its 97% payout claim

Fair Go was one of the first two sites ACMA asked Australian internet providers to block, back in 2019. Seven years on it still targets Australians, with a 97% payout claim nobody independent signs.

Fair Go Casino review: our verdict

Fair Go scores 3.2 out of 10, and it gets our lowest safety score of any casino in this batch. The reason is history: in 2019 ACMA picked Fair Go Casino and Emu Casino as the first two sites it would ask Australian internet providers to block, and Fair Go is still running, now spread across 49 domains on ACMA's list.

This desk review is based on Fair Go's terms (version 1.0, effective 16 June 2025), banking, promotions, payout and responsible gambling pages, read on 8 October 2026, plus ACMA's own releases. We did not play there.

Why ACMA blocked Fair Go first

ACMA's 2019 media release announced it would "request Australian internet service providers (ISPs) block illegal offshore gambling websites", naming Fair Go Casino and Emu Casino. Its investigations found both offered online casino-style games prohibited under the Interactive Gambling Act 2001. ACMA's Chair said they were illegal sites that target Australians and that ACMA had "received more than 50 complaints about their conduct". The release added: "The two sites will be the first blocked."

Seven years on, the brand is spread across far more addresses. On our 8 October 2026 snapshot of the blocked gambling websites list there were 49 Fair Go domains, from fairgocasino.com and fairgo.com to fairgowithkev.com and koalasfairgo.com. In 2022 ACMA also formally warned the company that supplied Fair Go's RTG games, naming Fair Go first on a list of 13 illegal casinos that includes Ozwin Casino.

None of that has made the site less Australian. Its homepage says it has served "Australian players since 2017", claims "over three million Australian players", accepts AUD and features Kev's Bush Bonanza, which it calls "the only pokie built specifically for Fair Go players".

The 97% payout claim

Fair Go's casino payout page says: "Fair Go pokies run at approximately 97% RTP", "independently verified by a third party testing agency". No agency, certificate or per-game report is named. Here is why the number matters, and why we cannot score it:

Return to playerExpected loss on $1,000 of spins
97% (Fair Go's claim)$30
95% ("industry norm" on the same page)$50
85% to 92% (NSW venue machines over their lifetime)$80 to $150

The NSW figure comes from GambleAware NSW, which says pub and club machines return 85% to 92% of money bet over their lifetime. A 97% online figure would be better for players, if it were true and if it applied to the games you play. Without a named tester, it is a marketing line.

The same page then says pokies "with more in-game bonus features tend to deliver higher effective payout rates". That is not how the maths works. A pokie's return already includes its free spins, multipliers and wilds. Features change how the return is delivered, in frequent small wins or rare big ones, which is pokies volatility, not how much comes back over time.

Three withdrawal ceilings

Fair Go's pages do not agree on how much you can take out:

Source on Fair Go's siteLimit
Bonus terms, clause 27"Up to $7,500 AUD" a week, larger wins paid over several weeks
Banking FAQUp to $30,000 a month and $7,500 a week; higher for VIPs
Banking table, bank transfer$100 to $2,500 per transfer, $2,500 a week, $10,000 a month, $50 fee

The most likely reading is that the bank transfer row is a per-method limit inside the overall cap, so a player paid by bank transfer gets $2,500 a week, not $7,500. Ask before you deposit. Fair Go says it aims to process withdrawals "within up to 2 business days" and suggests uploading verification documents in advance. Deposits must be wagered once before any withdrawal.

"No strings attached", according to the no deposit page

Fair Go's no deposit page describes these bonuses as "No strings attached" and "No risk on your part". Its payout page advertised 15 free spins on Bubble Bubble 2 for new players on 8 October 2026. The terms tell a fuller story:

  • Winnings from no deposit bonuses need 60x wagering.
  • No deposit cash-outs are capped at five times the bonus, and all free money withdrawals at $180 AUD.
  • A player who has never deposited must deposit $25 and wager it once before withdrawing.
  • A withdrawal of $25 to $50 from a free bonus needs a utility bill.
  • Winnings not withdrawn within 150 days of redeeming the coupon are forfeited.

Use Fair Go's own 97% claim on its monthly $20 free bonus: 60x is $1,200 of bets, which costs $36 on average at 97%, nearly double the bonus. The strings are the whole bonus. Our no deposit bonus guide shows how caps like these compare.

Deposit bonuses

The welcome offer is 100% up to $200, redeemable five times, which Fair Go adds up to "$1,000". Deposit bonuses need 30x the deposit plus the bonus and have no maximum cash-out, and the maximum bet while wagering is $10. Instant cashback is 25% (40% for VIPs) on deposits of $10 or more lost without a bonus, at 20x, claimed through live chat.

Who runs Fair Go?

The site does not say. The terms, footer ("Copyright Fair Go Casino, 2026") and privacy pages name no company or licence. Instead of a restricted-country list, clause 28 says services are not available to people "physically present in a jurisdiction that prohibits them", and clause 26 lists about 35 countries that cannot claim bonuses, Australia not among them. Inactive accounts lose their balance after 12 months, and disputes must be raised in writing within 14 days.

Responsible gambling and support

Deposit limits, daily or monthly, are set by asking support, and a self-exclusion form freezes the account for a week, a month, a year or permanently, reopened only after management review. Support is 24/7 by live chat, email or call-back.

How we scored it

  • Payments 4.0. A two-day processing target, but a $50 bank fee and three conflicting caps.
  • Terms 3.0. 30x deposit bonuses without a cash-out cap are fair; 60x free bonuses, the $180 ceiling, the 150-day rule and the "no strings" claim are not.
  • Safety 0.5. One of the first two brands ACMA blocked, 49 domains listed, named in a 2022 ACMA warning, no company or licence.
  • Responsible gambling 4.0. Limits and self-exclusion on request only.
  • Games 4.0. An exclusive pokie and over 280 real money pokies, but the 97% claim is unverified.
  • Support 5.0. Three channels around the clock; not tested.
