Neteller casino Australia: the fees, the gambling flag and the deposit-only trap

Neteller is a Paysafe e-wallet that offshore casinos often list. Before you use it, know three things: its flat fees, its credit card rule for Australians, and whether the casino pays back to it.

Key facts

  • Neteller asks whether each card deposit is for gambling, and says credit cards issued in Australia cannot be used for gambling transactions anywhere in the world.
  • Its fee page lists 2.5% on most deposit methods, a flat USD 10 to withdraw by bank transfer, 4.49% on currency conversion and USD 5 a month after 6 months of inactivity.
  • A flat USD 10 bank withdrawal is 10% of a USD 100 payout but 0.5% of USD 2,000, in our calculation.
  • SkyCrown's payments page lists Neteller for deposits only, while RocketPlay lists it both ways: check the withdrawal list first.
  • None of our partners lists Neteller on a public payments page.

Neteller in one paragraph

Neteller is an e-wallet that its own site describes as powered by Paysafe. Its fee page names Paysafe Financial Services Limited (FRN 900015) as the e-money issuer, authorised by the UK's Financial Conduct Authority, and Skrill Limited as owner of the Neteller trademark. You hold a balance, pay merchants from it and withdraw to a bank, card or another wallet. Offshore casinos list it because players can pay without giving the site a card number.

The gambling flag on every card deposit

Neteller treats gambling money differently from day one. When you load the wallet with a card, it asks whether the funds are for gambling, and you are meant to answer yes if they are. Its FAQ then sets out what happens next:

  • Australian credit cards are out. Cards issued in Australia, the United Kingdom, Sweden and Belgium "cannot be used for gambling transactions anywhere in the world."
  • Visa gambling funds can be used for all transaction types.
  • Mastercard gambling funds can go to selected gambling merchants on Neteller's list, but not to non-gambling merchants, gambling merchants off the list, or Money Out to crypto wallets.

So the path for an Australian is a debit card or bank deposit in your own name, flagged as gambling. Licensed bookmakers sit under a separate rule as well: since 11 June 2024 they cannot accept funds linked to a credit card, including digital wallets.

What Neteller charges

These are the personal fees on Neteller's fee page (read 9 October 2026). The page does not name a country, and fees are shown in USD.

Worked example: flat fees punish small payouts

A flat fee hurts most on small amounts. In our calculation, the USD 10 bank transfer withdrawal works out as:

Payout moved to your bankUSD 10 fee as a share
USD 10010%
USD 5002%
USD 2,0000.5%

Add the 2.5% on a card deposit going in (USD 12.50 on USD 500) and 4.49% if a currency conversion sits in the middle, and a small win can lose a noticeable slice before it reaches your bank. If you use Neteller, withdraw less often and in larger amounts, and keep the wallet in the currency you deposit and withdraw in.

The deposit-only trap

The most common Neteller problem is not the fees. It is finding out after a win that the casino will not pay back to Neteller. Two offshore casinos we have reviewed show the difference on their own payments pages:

Casino (ACMA status)Neteller depositsNeteller withdrawals
SkyCrown (blocked)Listed"Cash out unavailable"
RocketPlay (blocked)EUR 20 to EUR 4,000EUR 20 to EUR 4,000, listed as free

Where Neteller is deposit only, the casino pays out by another method on its withdrawal list, and its identity checks will want proof of whichever method you use. Bonus terms can bite too: SkyCrown and CrownPlay exclude Neteller deposits from their welcome offers.

Pundit tip: open the casino's withdrawal tab before the deposit tab. If your wallet is not on the withdrawal list, plan the payout route before you put a dollar in.

What we found at our partners

None of our partners lists Neteller. LuckyOnes, VegasNow, Lucky Dreams and Wanted Win all publish their methods, and Neteller is not among them; the rest show methods only after login. The wallet that does appear on all four pages is MiFinity: see our MiFinity casino guide.

Whichever you pick, the casino is the bigger risk than the wallet. ACMA warns that people who use illegal operators risk losing their money, and offshore casinos are outside Australian dispute services. If a payout stalls, our casino withdrawal pending guide explains the usual causes, and the Skrill casino guide compares Neteller's sister wallet.
